introducing Charlie
“Yoga is a practice. One cannot be good at practice”
We’re so excited to announce that the amazing Charlie Faulkner (@highestvibration) will be taking over Wednesday evenings at Breathe Studio with Candlelit Yoga (from 10 January 2024 onwards).
Charlie has completed over 500 hours of yoga training in Vinyasa, Rocket, Yin, Chakra, Elemental flows, Trauma Yoga and Yogic breathwork. Not only that but she’s also a qualified pilates teacher!
Candlelit Yoga will be a cozy little sanctuary from the busy-ness of life. Held within the hue of candlelight, the mind, body and soul will be invited to settle. Through moments of meditation, breathwork and a silky soft yoga flow we will create the feeling of spaciousness. Where we will release the day and set aside the future, we can fully embody and embrace the pleasure of the present moment.
Charlie found the practice of yoga in 2018 when she relocated to Australia. Whilst initially her practice was just physical, yoga soon catalysed a shift in the way that Charlie saw both herself and the world. “For a long time I saw myself as mediocre” says Charlie, “I suffered from limiting thoughts of self, of my capabilities and my place in this world. Yoga has been the most fundamental catalyst to shifting the way I see not only myself but also the world. It has helped me see that we are never stuck. We always have the opportunity to shift, to move through, to grow and evolve. We are such deeply powerful and multifaceted human beings. When we create spaces to quiet the noise of the mind, we can begin to hear the voice of our intuition and make conscious intentional choices in line with our truest selves. We can begin to believe in our limitless potential and notice all of life's wonderful little glimmers.”
We asked Charlie what she thinks the biggest misconception about yoga is, and she responded that there is no such thing as being “good” at yoga. “Yoga is a practice” she explains, “One cannot be good at practice - other than being consistent and simply showing up to it. Even for those who are deep in their yoga practice there is always something else to learn or work on - and that is what makes it so beautiful. It's not what we do, but WHY we do it. It’s about the journey, not the destination.” We couldn’t agree more.
Outside of her yoga practise, Charlie prioritises walks (rain or shine), creating tidy spaces, hydrating and always valuing her own time, space and energy. She loves burning Palo Santo wood and lives by the philosophy of Yung Pueblo - “Relentlessly follow your intuition. Build with people who also love to grow. Take responsibility for your healing. Love yourself so deeply that you feel at home in your own body and mind. Teach yourself to forgive. Never stop being a kind person.”
